    love this journey for [me]

heyy giirrllll, it’s me, future you. we need to talk. nothing bad, don’t worry! i’m always one to scoff at writing a letter to my younger self because i didn’t know anything then and i surely don’t know anything now! and i barely know the meaning of coherent so who am i to be writing letters to anyone? however, i have things you need to know so listen up. less than a week after that picture was taken, you made the decision to join the program formerly known as Weight Watchers. it was one of the best decisions of your life, lebron. you jumped in, head first, as you usually…

    martina is losing it #29

it’s been a while since i gave the internet an update on my weight loss journey. the fact of the matter is that not much has changed since my last update. it’s ok. there was thanksgiving and christmas eve and christmas and new years eve. i’m not beating myself up over it. i’ve been battling the same 5ish pounds since september. i can’t say that i’m thrilled about that. i was watching a fellow weight watcher’s story on instagram and she said something about having 2 gains in a row and she was worried about this weeks weigh in and she said, “i would be discouraged, but not enough to…

martina is losing it #28 – talking turkey

Even though Thanksgiving is over, let’s talk turkey, shall we? Last year was my first year on WW and also the first year that my mom decided to cater the meal, or most of it, anyway. We ordered from Boston Market and man do I love me those sides. I was hyper-aware of what I was eating and I’m pretty sure that I tracked the whole meal. This year, we catered, but not from Boston Market. This year our meal came from Fairway, which, sidenote: I fully recommend. Not so much the gravy, but everything else was great. This year was also different because I wound up making myself a…

    martina is losing it #27

It is currently Sunday night. I’m fighting the Sunday Sadness by watching the new Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu because Mindy Kaling is behind it and I can only re-watch The Mindy Project so many times. Luckily, I haven’t exceeded that limit so I’ll probably turn it on later. God, I miss that show. Anyway, we’re here for an update, right? Let’s begin. First, I should mention that I changed my weigh in day to Monday. I’ll explain why in a minute. That being said, by the time this goes up my grand total may be different, but in the long run, who cares because my updates are…

martina is losing it # 26

How is it that it’s been over a month since my last general post and even longer since my last weight loss post? I could say I’ve been busy, which, if you don’t look at what I’m doing Monday- Friday from 9a-5p () and only at the weekends, it’s an accurate statement. But it’s not an excuse. I didn’t have a great July, pounds wise. I didn’t gain many but I didn’t lose many either. The month brought a 3.3 pound loss. As I always say, better off than on, but… yikes. August has been OK, so far. I’m down a grand total of 88.6 pounds. Still so very unbelievably…

martina is losing it #25 – stoop talk

GIIIIRRLLLL… it’s been a month. Not in a my life is a whirlwind of activity way, just in a it’s been a month since I last posted. Cool. I briefly forgot I had a blog, TBH. But I do and I’m here now so let’s get started, shall we? Back in the heyday of blogging, to keep it interesting, instead of just writing rambling paragraphs updating the masses on what’s going on in your life, us bloggers would switch it up a little and write them as if we were having coffee and conversation. I’m doing that today because I feel like it and it’s been a month since I’ve…

    martina is losing it #24

Here I am again and this time I’m prepared. I checked my last post to see where I left off. I usually just guess and hope I’m not repeating myself, which would be nothing new. When we last spoke, I had briefly hit the 80-pound mark. Last Thursweigh brought a 1.5-pound loss so we’re back in the 80-pound range and we’re .1 pounds down from my lowest weight. Also, I had a kind of off the rails dinner on Saturday and, even though they say to track and move on, when I have melted butter all over my garlic mashed potatoes for the first time in over a year, I…

    martina is losing it #22

I’m writing this on Easter Sunday, about 3ish weeks since my last update. I’d say that’s nothing short of a miracle. April has not been the best month, it’s been pretty shitty, frankly. I had two very little losses and one big 1.3 lbs – which is big for me) gain. A loss is a loss, as I find myself repeating and hopefully next Thursweigh will be better. Still in all, I’m down a total of 76.3 pounds, which is only .3 off of my lowest weight. So, still not too shabby. I’ve talked about my theory on why men lose weight faster and, in my opinion, more consistently than…

    one year down

A year ago today I embarked on what I could only describe as a whirlwind journey. Which feels weird to say because I didn’t get married or become a mom and everyone says those are the big ones. Those are the whirlwinds. Those people must not have lost almost 80 pounds in a year. BUT I DIGRESS. I’ve learned more about myself in the past 365 days than I did in any of the rest of my 31 years. The picture in the top left corner is the one that started it all. That brunch was only a year ago and it feels like forever. When I first saw it…

    martina is losing it #22

….aaand we’re back. Hello? Is this thing on? It’s been so long I’ve almost forgotten how to do any of this. But we’re here and we are thriving. I know that when blogs that aren’t weight loss blogs (or that are, whatever) don’t give an update in a while, it usually means the writer/loser had fallen off the wagon or is too busy being on billboards in Times Square. I have not done either, but I should be on a billboard. Because, friends, -sit down for this unless you’re ready, which I don’t think you are-  I am down a total of 76.7 pounds. SEVENTY-SIX POINT SEVEN POUNDS I hit…
