sweater weather tag! (totally not the candle)

The other night I was scouring the internet for something, anything to inspire me. I was in my usual funk of I have things to say but don’t know what to write. I went through all of the writing prompts on Pinterest, tried to come up with a witty list, possibly entitled 20 Things To Do When You’re Home Alone That Doesn’t Involve Hulu or Netflix. Except, what is there to do besides catching up on Hulu and Netflix when you have the TV to yourself? I was about to give up when I clicked the refresh button on my Reader. Up popped a new post from Kristen over at Peaches…

    Jenny knows what’s up

This is going to be a really quick bonus Jonas post. I was going through my reader and saw that the hilarious Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, had made a post about the “death” of blogging. I just wanted to share a quick quote from that post. Except I guess it’s not really the end because now that I’ve brought up the question of whether blogging is dead I’m probably expected to flesh it out.  Except that readers here know I never flesh anything out properly so I suppose I’m off the hook.  Which is exactly what blogging is all about.  It’s about writing whatever crazy shit you want to write…

single gal speaks: adventures in speed dating

Gather round, friends. I got a story for ya. Picture it- New York, 2012. It was the Monday of Labor Day weekend when two single gals from Brooklyn decided to take matters of the heart in to their own hands and get out there and try something new. As we should all know by now, Lisa likes to think of new adventures for us to go on. Sometimes I have a say in our activities and sometimes I just get a phone call that says “So, I bought these tickets”. This was one of those times. Tickets? Getting tickets to something should be fun! Tickets mean Broadway shows or the movies or…

    lessons from liz

I was scrolling through Instagram the other day and in its depths I found one of those word pictures (totally not memes, as i’ve misidentified them previously) with a quote from Elizabeth Gilbert. You know, of Eat, Pray, Love  fame. I was going to write a whole post on this quote and how I’ve been feeling a bit messy lately. Then I decided to see if Liz had anymore words of wisdom. Apparently, I live under a rock because woah. She sure does. Here are a few of my favorites. It’s funny because this week I’ve been spilling over with ideas for posts. I’ll probably forget them as soon as I post this,…

    please, think before you speak

In a blogger’s life, there are some posts that they don’t want to write. Sometimes they just don’t write them. Move on and wait for the next flash of inspiration to hit. Other times though, they feel like they should bite the bullet. Pull on their big girl panties and get to typing. This is one of those posts for me. I try hard not to let my feelings on important current events not show themselves on here. And by important, I mean things not related to One Direction. The main reason for that is I don’t feel like I am knowledgeable or articulate enough to defend myself from people…

photo dump: flatiron to fifth avenue

What do you get when you mix two single gals, New York City and a camera? THIS POST, THAT’S WHAT. The other night, Lisa and I found ourselves venturing into the city. Our plan was to get soup and then frozen yogurt. And, in case you were wondering, yes, we were fully aware that it was 90 degrees and humid out. We even had a conversation about how making good decisions is not on our list of marketable skills. But really, when Tomato Cheddar is soup of the month, the bad decision would be not to get the soup. We got off at 14th Street/ Union Square and headed off…

    single gal speaks: facebook stalking

We’ve all done it. We can deny it, try to stop it, or just learn to embrace that it is part of every day life now. I even found myself doing it yesterday afternoon. What am I talking about? FACEBOOK STALKING Specifically, an old flame’s new match.  Ugh. I know, right? Since I found myself doing this recently, I figured I’d make a list of what was going through my head as I was doing it so we can all commiserate together in the comments. for reference: my urge to snoop around stemmed from a text from a friend who mentioned the new match. ok, let’s go. hmm.. i can’t…

don’t call it a comeback.. except that’s what it is

Sooooo… how’ve ya been? I just wanted to come on here and let everyone (the one or two of you who stuck around) know that I’m here! I’m not even going to apologize for lack of posts because as much as I’ve missed it here, I’ve been seriously lacking in creativity, motivation and the general hilarity I’ve tried to always bring to this space. I am going to try to not bring up what’s going on with my dad in every post, but it’s such a big part of my life right now, I can’t seem to help it. Hence why I’ve stayed away. He’s been home from the hospital…

    weathering the storm

I feel like it’s been a lifetime since I’ve posted. I really haven’t had much to say. June was one of the longest months of my life. I’m really trying to not be overly dramatic, but it really was. I’ve been back and forth with giving an update because 90% of people who read this don’t know me in real life and I don’t want it to look like I’m fishing for attention. But, for the sake of posterity and because I’ve missed my home on the internet, I figured I might as well put something up. My father is being released from the hospital today. We still don’t have…
