    live colorfully.

Robin Williams Joan Rivers Princess Diana Kate Spade These are the four celebrities whose death hit me like a ton of bricks. Ever since I got back from San Francisco (almost a year ago – WHAAT?), I said, to anyone who will listen, that as dramatic as it may sound, I felt Robin Williams’ spirit all through the city. I often wonder what he and Joan Rivers would have to say about what’s going on in the country these days. I miss them more than I probably should miss people I’ve never met. Princess Diana was the first and only celebrity I cried for when they died. And now for…

    scratching the makeup itch

I don’t wear makeup to work much anymore. Lately, I’ve been getting the itch, but then I realize that I could put off getting out of bed for an extra 20 minutes if I don’t scratch it. I was trolling YouTube, as I do to live vicariously through people who don’t go to work looking like they were hit by a truck on their way in, and I found a beauty survey and thought that I’d fill it out here. Maybe help to scratch the itch. 1. How often do you wear a full face of makeup? (foundation, eyeshadow, contour… THE WORKS) More often than not, if I’m doing my…

RANT & RAMBLE: plus size shopping

I was scrolling through Facebook, as one does when they’re trying to escape the stresses of the office. I came across this article, which lists 5 challenges plus size shoppers encounter while trying to find clothes that are fashionable, affordable and to their unique style. This article is SPOT. ON. As we all know, this blog is no stranger to my rants about plus size shopping and how it totally blows. I wasn’t going to say anything because 1) Alysse (from Ready to Stare) truly hit every nail dead on the head. And 2) I’m tired of it. I’m tired of complaining. I’m tired of complaining that I’m complaining. Tired, tired,…

    obligatory oscars post 2016

Obligatory Oscar post starts now: If you thought I wasn’t going to bring up Leo finally winning a gold statue, you’d be horribly wrong and I don’t know if we could ever be friends. If you’re my friend on Facebook you probably already know that when Julianne Moore said his name, a scream was let out of my throat and it took me almost a hot minute to realize it really did come out of me. I loved Kate Winslet’s reaction, loved his acceptance speech; the only way it could have been better would be if he lifted his statue in the air and said “I made it count!” (I’m the…

Well, I said I’d be back

Well, I said I’d be back. I’m sure you’ve seen this gem floating around the internet lately. Since I’ve been out of the blogging game recently, I don’t have too much to say except… REALLY? OPRAH?! Of all people this ends up in Oprah’s magazine? The same Oprah whose weight has been up and down more than the elevator at the Empire State Building? The same Oprah who rolled her lost fat out on stage in a Radio Flyer wagon? Something tells me there’s going to be an opening in the Advice department at the magazine pretty soon. I’m sure Oprah doesn’t proof her whole magazine every month. She’s not…

    get it together, jcpenney

For the record, I did not want to write this post. I’m sick of talking about what I’m going to be talking about. I also feel that because I’m annoyed and it’s my blog I have the right to get a little ranty. I went clothes shopping recently (yep, it’s one of those rants. click away now if you don’t want to hear it). I am in desparate need of some new clothes. One, because summer is coming and two, because I have nothing to wear to work. My building’s air conditioner doesn’t usually get its shit together until August so I need something other than the sweaters that are hanging…

    coolest phone case ever!

Remember how I said I ordered new phone cases and they were the coolest ever? Well, take a peek! I also ordered one with pink glitter and gold stars but that one hasn’t come in yet. I got them from a seller on Ebay. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 but I know that they also have them for the iPhone. When I was little I used to go nuts over those placemats filled with water and had either fish or trucks or whatever floating around in them. That’s what these sort of remind me of. Or, if you’ve ever been to the New York Aquarium, they have an indoor…

academy awards 2015 fashion favorites! and my 100th post!

I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves, but I feel like I have to say that this year was an excellent year for Oscar fashions. In no particular order (except Jennifer Lopez wins first prize, in my book) here are my favorite fashions from the 2015 Oscars. I actually liked her red carpet dress too. Those gloves were such a shame.       Had to add my girl, Mindy Kaling. She’s at the Vanity Fair Oscar party so it totally counts. Also, I just realized that this is my 100th post! I am accepting any and all congratulatory gifts and monetary donations. As I will for all…

Sometimes the best things in life aren’t free

I was on Twitter earlier, trying to get a feel for it. I still don’t really like it and even though it seems to be the ticket for blog exposure, I don’t know if I could bring myself to use it for more than the occasional celebrity stalking session or quick retweet here and there. Anyway, while I was floating around the Twittersphere, I made my way over to Mindy Kaling’s feed. I really wanted to see if she had anything to say about either last night’s episode (which turned out to be not as heart tuggy as I thought, but still an excellent episode.) or had any insight on next…

    fashion hits- grammys 2015

The Grammys were on last night and for some reason I haven’t seen any posts on the night’s fashions. Never fear! That’s what I’m here for. I don’t know if this will be a best/worst kind of thing, but as usual, since almost no forethought went into this post, I’m just going to throw it all out there and see where it lands. (and by “no forethought” i mean i just want to look at pretty dresses and handsome men in tuxedos, not rank them in order of any kind of greatness.) I’m not a fan of the color black in clothing. Sure, every woman needs her go – to…
