Blogtober14 Day 12: Best advice I’ve gotten.

Day 12 wants to know the best advice I’ve been given. I’ve been given tons of advice in my lifetime.

Don’t run with scissors.
Don’t touch that, it’s hot.
Treat others as you would like to be treated
Get an education. If all else fails at least you can fall back on it.
Make sure you go into a job that you love.

You know, the usual. When I saw this prompt I didn’t know what to write because in my lifetime I’ve received tons of great and not so great pieces of advice. How could I choose?

Finally, I decided on “You never know what goes on behind closed doors” I feel like when I hit my mid-twenties my mind became a judgment free zone. I really don’t care how you live your life as long as whatever you’re doing makes you happy. If you don’t have a job and have no intention of looking for one, that’s fine with me. But when I tell you about my job search don’t tell me I’m doing it wrong.

I just feel like I don’t have time for people’s unwarranted comments. Why do you care that the woman in the grocery store’s hairstyle has it’s own orbit? Or her ass for that matter. Does it physically hurt you that the man at the bus stop is wearing a burgundy three piece suit with a hat that has a feather in it? Because it doesn’t hurt me. Everyone lives life differently. Who am I to tell anyone they’re doing it wrong?

My mom gave me a piece of fashion advice that I fall back on all the time. She always tells me “When in doubt, go for the classic pieces.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stood at a bag counter or as shoe rack with two items in my hands, one in either black or brown and the other hot pink or some shade of green, debating on which to choose. Classic or trendy? Classic usually wins out and almost never get buyer’s remorse.

I think some advice I could give myself is to when I look for and receive it, I should heed it. That’s a good little nugget to end off with, if I do say so myself.

See you tomorrow.
