Christmas Favorites!

Guys, we’re in the home stretch. 5 days till Christmas and 12 days until 2016. crazypants.

Anywhoo, last year I did a Christmas survey so I figured I’d do one this year too because, tradition.

I’m borrowing this one from Libby at Honestly, Libby. I use the term borrow very loosely because I can’t give it back. I can tell you to go over and read hers though, which you definitely should. So, when you’re done here go straight there. I’m not kidding.

I’m also borrowing the u in favorite because it’s fun and makes me feel super posh. Now on with the show.

What are your Favourite Christmas colors?
Anything that sparkles, for the win.

PJ’s or fancy dress of Christmas day?
My family has (very frustratingly) made every holiday a “dress sweats” holiday. Dress sweats, if you aren’t familiar, are the nicest pair of sweatpants/track suit that you won. It irks the ever loving shit out of me. So this year, I’m going to wear a skirt and a nice top. And I’ll probably bring my dress sweats for when dinner is over because I could only be ladylike for so long.

Presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning. The anticipation thrills me.

Stay home or go away?
Stay home as in I stay in the tri-state area. I go over the river and through the woods to Staten Island for Christmas dinner.

Favourite part of the Christmas meal?
The part where I say to myself “a new year starts in a week, so could your diet” and I eat the extra ravioli.

Favourite Holiday treat?
All of them.

Dream Christmas Location?
LONDON. I’d take Italy also. But really, why would I leave New York at Christmas time? (because London and Italy – that’s why.)

Pro-present wrapper?
In my dreams.

Favourite Reindeer?

Favourite Cracker Toy?
Are crackers like stockings? In that case, Reeses Trees. If they aren’t, then I’m going to “borrow” Libby’s answer and say jewelry because who would say no to sparkly wearables?

Favourite Christmas Decoration?
I love wreaths. The heavily decorated ones. And double points if they have lights.

Can you name all of the Reindeer?
Yes! Sneezy, Sleepy, Bashful, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, and Doc. Wait…

Weirdest gift you ever got?
My father always gets me one of those shirts with wolves howling at the moon on them. I don’t know why because I’ve never had any sort of fascination with wolves. One year I mentioned that I thought otters were cute so instead of wolves I got an otter family shirt. Thank God for bottom drawers.

Favourite Christmas Memory?
I have so many. Going to church with my grandma on Christmas Eve, opening presents on Christmas morning with my parents and then Christmas afternoon with the rest of my family, getting letters from Santa, checking to see if he came and if Rudolph ate his carrot. SO MANY.

Favourite Christmas Carol?
The entire NSYNC Home for the Holidays album, All I want for Christmas is You, It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas, the song from Home Alone 2 when Kev and his mom are reunited.

Favourite Christmas Movie?
I wrote about some of them here but there are so many more. I’ll just go with basically every one ever made. Except those claymation Rudolph and Friends ones. Ugh.

And that’s about it, folks. If you do this survey, please tag me so I can see it!

sweater weather tag! (totally not the candle)

The other night I was scouring the internet for something, anything to inspire me. I was in my usual funk of I have things to say but don’t know what to write. I went through all of the writing prompts on Pinterest, tried to come up with a witty list, possibly entitled 20 Things To Do When You’re Home Alone That Doesn’t Involve Hulu or Netflix. Except, what is there to do besides catching up on Hulu and Netflix when you have the TV to yourself? I was about to give up when I clicked the refresh button on my Reader. Up popped a new post from Kristen over at Peaches and Poppycock. It was a tag! And she tagged me! ask and you shall receive. So, thanks Kristen! She put a limit on her word count, but you guys aren’t getting that lucky with mine.

So, without further ado:

favorite candle scentLeaves by Bath and Body Works or Home Sweet Home by Scentsationals (you can get it at Walmart. it’s actually those wax cubes for the tart warmers. wax that smells good = candle)

coffee, tea or hot chocolate?  first of all, if i’m drinking coffee, it’s iced. second, I like all of those beverages so it just depends on my mood.

what is the best fall memory you have — i don’t really have one. early fall usually reminds me of school and sometimes i forget how old i am and i start to look for my backpack to get my homework started. old habits die hard, i guess. honestly, the only other thing that comes to mind is doing blogtober last year. i really loved that challenge (and a challenge it was!) and all of the people i’ve “met”/found because of it.

best fragrance for fall — Chloe by Chloe or Burberry Body

favorite Thanksgiving food — Stove Top stuffing. sorry, i’m just not a fan of the homemade ones. my aunt also makes this corn bread/pudding thing that i would eat the whole pan of if i could.

most worn sweater —  i don’t wear a lot of sweaters because i’m always warm.

football games or jumping in leaf piles — ohh tough choice. i’m going to go with football games. we all know i feel about men in uniform.

favorite type of pie —  apple or cherry, both with vanilla ice cream.

what is autumn weather like where you live — gorgeous. and the views aren’t bad either.

which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged liner — dark lips, hands down.

what song really gets you into the fall spirit —  the monster mash?

is pumpkin spice worth the hype — it used to be and then starbucks thought it would be cute to release it in august. then dunkin donuts, for some reason, decided not to release their apple cider. NOT COOL. how else are we supposed to fight against the great pumpkin (spice)?

giphy (5)

favorite fall TV show —  does “You’ve Got Mail” airing on ABC Family (or wherever) count?

skinny jeans or leggings? — leggings if i could find a long enough, light enough sweater or tunic. otherwise, skinny jeans. who am i kidding? elastic waistband for the win.

combat boots or Uggs — gun to my head? Uggs. but really, riding boots.

Halloween: yay or nay — nay. or should i say nae nae?

giphy (4)

fall mornings or evenings — do i have to choose?

what do you think about Black Friday? — it’s cool, but no thanks. too many people, too much pressure. i think it’s bullshit that stores are not giving their employees a chance to enjoy the holiday. opening at 6pm on thursday? by that time, my pants are still buttoned and i’m not looking for the fennel to help me to digest yet. #italiansolutions. i mean, what kind of shit is that?

one Fall 2015 trend you love — blanket scarves #baaaasicccc

friday five – channel surfing

It is no secret that I’m addicted to The Mindy Project. However, I do watch other shows. So in the spirit of Friday Five, here are five shows that I am loving right now.

Jane the Virgin – I’ve always wondered if this (getting accidentally inseminated, getting pregnant, but still be a virgin) could really happen. So when I first saw a commercial for this show, I was immediately intrigued. It is set up almost like a Spanish soap opera , which is like an American soap opera with more drama. It’s got comedy, drama, and most importantly, romance. And the guys are really cute.

Mob Wives – I’ve watched this trainwreck from the very beginning.  The last two seasons weren’t so great, but this one seems to be doing well. Especially since the Godmother herself made an appearance. The Godmother being Victoria Gotti. And she was faaabulous.

renee mobwives

me neither, Renee

Hindsight – (sidenote: to those of you who are, like me, obsessed with makeup videos on youtube – the girl who plays Becca looks exactly like Elle Fowler of All that Glitters fame.) If I wasn’t lazy and changed the channel when Mob Wives was over about two weeks ago, I would have never found this gem. It’s set in 1995 so right away, I’m hooked. 1995 was 20 years ago, by the way. I’ll give you a minute to let that sink in because I know I needed one. Anyway, it’s filled with 90’s goodness. Beepers, Doc Martins, Walkmans, VCRs, etc. They even played some Mariah Carey in the episode before last. Because the 90’s were just about the last time she was worth listening to.

mariah carey

Mariah. Girl, I know that was harsh, but it’s true. I was a huge fan of yours back then. And then Charmbracelet happened. I think we both know that was the beginning of the end. I do, however, still love you as the diva icon you are.

Chasing Life – I don’t know why but I love a good cancer show or storyline. Like when Spinner had cancer on Degrassi or Red Band Society, which was not given a fair chance if you ask me. Anyway, this is one of those good cancer shows. I’m glad it’s finally back from hiatus because my Monday nights were getting pretty lonely.

chasing life

Big Women: Big Love – I know I said I was going to do a whole post on this one, and I still might. It took about two episodes for me to decide if I even liked the show. I really do. I see a lot of myself in these women. Except Jess. She (seemingly) has more confidence in one strand of hair on her head then I have in my whole body. I wish they would stop complaining how they don’t have a man because of their bodies. Two reasons – 1) I know how they feel. I live it everyday. I don’t need to be reminded of it from people on my TV. 2) I know for a fact that losing weight doesn’t guarantee a man. Not even a sparkling personality or winning smile guarantees a man. Believe me. I have both and I’m still on the vine, so to speak.
i’m thinking a full post is definitely in order. keep your eyes peeled.

big ang love it

And there you have it. This is what you’ll find on my DVR at some point during the week.

Some honorable mentions:
Mike & Molly
Snooki & Jwoww
The Little Couple
Little Women: LA
Blue Bloods
