    martina is losing it #24

Here I am again and this time I’m prepared. I checked my last post to see where I left off. I usually just guess and hope I’m not repeating myself, which would be nothing new. When we last spoke, I had briefly hit the 80-pound mark. Last Thursweigh brought a 1.5-pound loss so we’re back in the 80-pound range and we’re .1 pounds down from my lowest weight. Also, I had a kind of off the rails dinner on Saturday and, even though they say to track and move on, when I have melted butter all over my garlic mashed potatoes for the first time in over a year, I…

    martina is losing it #23

It’s been over a month since I last updated. Cool. Totally on top of things over here. Well, I hit the 80 pound mark. That was last week. This week I gained 1.4 back. (edit: I re-weighed myself this morning, just in case it was a fluke. i was up AGAIN. so, i’m going to try my hardest to reign it in this week. is it time for a gym membership? oh please, God, no.)That was fun while it lasted. Aunt Flo was in town this week and with her here, my brain short circuits (in a lot of ways) and I just want to eat everything that’s not nailed…

    martina is losing it #22

I’m writing this on Easter Sunday, about 3ish weeks since my last update. I’d say that’s nothing short of a miracle. April has not been the best month, it’s been pretty shitty, frankly. I had two very little losses and one big 1.3 lbs – which is big for me) gain. A loss is a loss, as I find myself repeating and hopefully next Thursweigh will be better. Still in all, I’m down a total of 76.3 pounds, which is only .3 off of my lowest weight. So, still not too shabby. I’ve talked about my theory on why men lose weight faster and, in my opinion, more consistently than…

    one year down

A year ago today I embarked on what I could only describe as a whirlwind journey. Which feels weird to say because I didn’t get married or become a mom and everyone says those are the big ones. Those are the whirlwinds. Those people must not have lost almost 80 pounds in a year. BUT I DIGRESS. I’ve learned more about myself in the past 365 days than I did in any of the rest of my 31 years. The picture in the top left corner is the one that started it all. That brunch was only a year ago and it feels like forever. When I first saw it…

    martina is losing it #22

….aaand we’re back. Hello? Is this thing on? It’s been so long I’ve almost forgotten how to do any of this. But we’re here and we are thriving. I know that when blogs that aren’t weight loss blogs (or that are, whatever) don’t give an update in a while, it usually means the writer/loser had fallen off the wagon or is too busy being on billboards in Times Square. I have not done either, but I should be on a billboard. Because, friends, -sit down for this unless you’re ready, which I don’t think you are-  I am down a total of 76.7 pounds. SEVENTY-SIX POINT SEVEN POUNDS I hit…

    martina is losing it #21

I checked and the last time I posted an(ything) update was February 8th. How do the weeks go so fast? The concept of time is fascinating when you think about it. So I try not to think about it. February wasn’t a terrible month. It could have been muuuuch better but, as we all know, it could have been muuuuch worse. All told, I lost 2.4 for the whole month. A loss is a loss. A loss is a loss. A LOSS IS A LOSS. It’s better than the .7 I was down in January, right? The first two weeks of the month I came in hot. I lost 2…

    martina is losing it #20

I know, it’s been forever since I last updated everyone. Unless you saw my latest instagram post. If you did, then just act surprised. Three weigh-ins ago, I lost 4.1 pounds, which at the time put me at 70 pounds down. Like, 70 on the nose. I know, crazy. I was guardedly optimistic. I’m still in awe of it all and it still doesn’t seem real. It’s almost a year so I don’t know what’s going on. Anyway, I wanted to wait a week and see which way the scale went. At the next weigh-in, the scale betrayed me and skyrocketed up 4.4 pounds. Rude. RUUUUUUUUDEEEEE. I was really upset.…

    martina is losing it #19

When did I last post an update? Yea, I can’t remember either. And yea, I’m too lazy to check. I’m still here, still eating and tracking. I vaguely remember mentioning that I had gained .7 pounds and that it was fine. So we’ll go from there. The following week I lost 1.1 pounds. Back in the saddle, right? WRONG. As of my last weigh in, I gained 1.8 pounds AND I DON’T KNOW WHY. Truly. I got my blue dots, tracked everything. I didn’t get any extra walking in, but for the one day a week that I MAY walk around the park, is it all that much? Obviously, it’s…

a love story, in 11 parts

It’s been a long time since I’ve talked about anything other than my weight loss (up .7lbs this week. it’s fine. shark week started tuesday, NYE dinner was kind of heavy. it will be gone by next thursweigh. hopefully.). I’m sure you’ve noticed and I’m sure you’re thinking to yourself “I wonder what’s going on in Martina’s love life? She hasn’t updated us in a while. No news is good news, right? Good for her.” uuuummmm. no. To be honest, I’m feeling myself falling into the same feeling of hopelessness and despair (#dramaqueen) that I did last year. It’s weird because every early January I see the whole year filled…

    2018: a review

Another year in the books, my friends! I hope everyone’s New Years Eve celebrations were amazing and filled with fun and laughter and food and good things. Or with Netflix and hot chocolate and going to bed early, whatever. I’m trying to pre-write this so my NYE hasn’t happened yet. BUT, I will be wearing a tulle skirt and a sequined shirt so it’s already a win. 2018 was kind of… boring for me. Compared to the second half of 2017, it was a snooze. However, for the sake of posterity (which is what I should have named this blog), I wanted to recap what DID happen because it wasn’t…
