    it’s streaming season, bitches!

who am i kidding? it’s always streaming season. but, with winter in full swing and our current favorites still on hiatus, we’re all hunkering down ready to dive head first into a *insert streaming service here* binge. that’s my favorite kind of diving, tbh. but what about the shows that didn’t make it? the ones that were never given a chance to shine? the ones that were loved and lost. in this attempt to make this a viable blog and creative outlet, i will now list the television shows that were given a raw deal. plus a few others that should be available to stream, but unfortunately are not. note:…

martina is losing it #28 – talking turkey

Even though Thanksgiving is over, let’s talk turkey, shall we? Last year was my first year on WW and also the first year that my mom decided to cater the meal, or most of it, anyway. We ordered from Boston Market and man do I love me those sides. I was hyper-aware of what I was eating and I’m pretty sure that I tracked the whole meal. This year, we catered, but not from Boston Market. This year our meal came from Fairway, which, sidenote: I fully recommend. Not so much the gravy, but everything else was great. This year was also different because I wound up making myself a…

    $4,812 – by carrie’s standards

I’M A SHITTY BLOGGER. there. i said it. let’s move on. Instead of a weight loss update, because this is more than a weight loss blog and that’s the hill I will die on, I wanted to just do kind of a Currently post. A brain dump of sorts. Should I wait to mention weight loss related things? Or should I just get them out of the way? Everything is related and connected in some way, so I’ll just get it out of the way now. To date, I’ve lost 91.6 pounds. It was more a few weigh-ins ago but I had two small gains for two weeks in a…

    martina is losing it #27

It is currently Sunday night. I’m fighting the Sunday Sadness by watching the new Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu because Mindy Kaling is behind it and I can only re-watch The Mindy Project so many times. Luckily, I haven’t exceeded that limit so I’ll probably turn it on later. God, I miss that show. Anyway, we’re here for an update, right? Let’s begin. First, I should mention that I changed my weigh in day to Monday. I’ll explain why in a minute. That being said, by the time this goes up my grand total may be different, but in the long run, who cares because my updates are…

    timing vs. fate: a debate

I may have written about this before (God knows I’ve tried), but come with me on it. I’ve been thinking alot – probably too much – about timing. *puts philosopher’s hat on* Is it fate or timing that dictates how things are going to go? Are they in cahoots? I always thought it was fate. Fate was the end all and be all of the world. “If it’s meant to be, it will be”. I catch myself saying that all the time. It has become one of my many mantras that get me through my (many) “why not me?” moments. BUT. TIMING. Sure, if it’s meant to be it will…

    musical memories

In a refreshing twist, this post has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss. I’m doing well and an update is coming, just not now. I’ve mentioned here before that we’re not allowed to play music at work. It sucks but I was dealing with it. And by dealing with it, I mean it was driving me up a wall. My boss’ daughter got married last month and needless to say he and his wife were not in much in the weeks leading up the the event. Sometime last week, when I realized this was the best time to do it, I bought a small Bluetooth speaker at 5Below, made…

    omg [i’m] back again

If you were here before this turned into a weight loss/accountability blog, you’d know that I used to talk about things that I was passionate about, like Harry Styles and The Mindy Project. I also used to talk about things I did or events I attended. And when those things combined, you know I was on here for sure letting you know all about it. I hate that opening paragraph and am too lazy to change it. Basically, I went to a Backstreet Boys concert almost two weeks ago and I want to talk about it. Cool? Great. I’ve been a Backstreet fan since the mid-90’s. Despite my mom’s attempts…

martina is losing it # 26

How is it that it’s been over a month since my last general post and even longer since my last weight loss post? I could say I’ve been busy, which, if you don’t look at what I’m doing Monday- Friday from 9a-5p () and only at the weekends, it’s an accurate statement. But it’s not an excuse. I didn’t have a great July, pounds wise. I didn’t gain many but I didn’t lose many either. The month brought a 3.3 pound loss. As I always say, better off than on, but… yikes. August has been OK, so far. I’m down a grand total of 88.6 pounds. Still so very unbelievably…

to martina on her (32nd) birthday

I turn 32 today. I feel like I’m 8. I act like I’m 12. I’ve talked about this before, but it’s my birthday so I make the rules. When I was in first grade, we had journals that we were given a prompt to write about every day. Usually just a sentence or two and a small illustration. I remember one prompt being something like “what will you be doing when you’re 30?” My response was something like “I will be in my wheelchair, in the nursing home with my husband and we will have a limo.” Adorable. (You’ll have to believe me since I still can’t find the journal…

martina is losing it #25 – stoop talk

GIIIIRRLLLL… it’s been a month. Not in a my life is a whirlwind of activity way, just in a it’s been a month since I last posted. Cool. I briefly forgot I had a blog, TBH. But I do and I’m here now so let’s get started, shall we? Back in the heyday of blogging, to keep it interesting, instead of just writing rambling paragraphs updating the masses on what’s going on in your life, us bloggers would switch it up a little and write them as if we were having coffee and conversation. I’m doing that today because I feel like it and it’s been a month since I’ve…
